Good morning everyone. I am so new to this blogging stuff so please bear with me, HAHAHA, one day, this whole thing may actually be interesting. =)  Today what I would like to hear is any requests or suggestions that you all may have, if any. I have made most of the educational tutorials up for the successful use of the machine, canvas, and SCAL4. However, there may still be a few untouched areas that someone may need to know. If so just drop me a line, or come visit us all over on our Facebook page. We are growing like a weed over there and have a ton of awesomely intelligent folks there that can help you along with whatever you are trying to do. card inspiration featuring Karleigh Sue Digis using SCAL, Canvas, and the Brother Scan 'n' cut!

Hi there everyone, and happy monday to you all! I am Rachel, and I am a card maker and designer, and I wanted to share with you a card made using almost EXCLUSIVELY the Brother Scan 'n'cut !

This card is made with one of the new MARCH releases from the Karleigh Sue digi shoppe on etsy, and her name is 'Prego glow' mermaid!

but on here today, I'm going to tell you how I put the card design together and the products I used

this card uses a 6" square card base, and I usually use them so the fold is at the top (this is called a TENT fold)

I sometimes put a LOT of things on my cards, and this is the way they are the most stable!

I hopped into my CANVAS software (as there is a great fishtail banner in there!)

and made myself a banner shape at 12 cm x7cm approx (5 inches long and 2.6 inches wide)

this I exported as an FCM and added to my memory stick

I then hopped over to SCAL and opened my DINGBATS  from Kimberly  Geswein - flavor and frames 5

which is available over on DAFONT as a free personal license. asI make a lot of my cards to sell on, I went and paid her $5 for a limited commercial license on her own website.

I exported the notched rectangle to my stick,in FCM format and then hopped over to my machine, as all the files I needed were now on my stick (and next time, they will be ready there for you!)

first of all on the brother scan n cut I cut a blue matt , which is 14.2 cm squared and another paper square at 13.9 cm 

this is the first layer of the card. the square is found in the inbuilt shapes.

I then cut a circle out of blue cardstock at around 13,5cm diameter (circle also one of the inbuilt shapes)

and a patterned paper to go on top of that at 13cm

this once glued together, needs to be put so it covers 3/4 of the card , with the rest hanging off the left side, this is to be trimmed off using a paper trimmer.

the part of the circle you use on the card, now needs to go on top of the first layer, using either glue or double sided tape, whichever medium you prefer!

then it is time for the banner- i cut the first one out of blue cardstock again, to match the other mats, and then another which i sized 5mm smaller to fit inside out of patterned paper. glued together, then added across the middle of the card, slightly overhanging the first paper layer on the right, so they peek out onto the white cardstock base..i'm cooky like that ;)

using the SCAN function, I input my piece of colouring cardstock with the coloured digi on it, and sized the notched rectangle to fit around her. the digi was printed at 11cm tall so on this card my layer was 12.7cm tall

then I cut another blue matt, this time using the notched rectangle , at 13.2 cm tall to fit around the layer with the digital stamp on it  

... you guessed it, these are then glued together and added on top of the other three layers...

and finally the sentiment! 

this was done using the Bellucia font , I typed the sentiment in to SCAL (make sure to load the font to your machine AFTER it is loaded on your Operating systerm, or it will likely dissapear from your SCAL)

making sure the letters were touching, I used the UNION function to make the word cut as a whole . then, selecting the sentiment, I used the EFFECTS 'SHADOW' feature to make a shadow layer... in the box be sure to click 'blackout shadow'

and made it several mm larger than the sentiment itself. 

I seperated the two layers so that one could easily be used without the other 

this i exported to my scan n cut, and then when opening the file, deleted the text, cutting just the shadow out of blue cardstock.

on the second cut, I deleted the shadow, and cut the sentiment from the paper scraps left over after I cut my patterned paper circle

 now, these would be CRAZY to try and glue together or tape as it is small and fiddly, so I used my xyron sticker maker, to make the back of the sentiment sticky, and carefully adhered it to its shadow layer.

i then popped it up on 3d foam pads, and added it overlapping the banner slightly.

finally, i adhered all this down to the base card, and added the embellishments.

YAY!  I do not like to see people struggle like I did for MONTHS! There was very little help available, and what I found confused me more. So what I do in my tutorials is pare the information down to the basics. You will get one topic and one topic only in each tut, with very few exceptions. So therefore, my tuts are only 1-3 mins long. I do NOT mess around and talk about anything but what I am supposed to, what the title says.  I do NOT want you spending all of your precious creative time, watching videos. And then after watching,  if you have any further questions, you can contact me directly on my FB page, and also ask for general help there as well. So we have you covered and we WILL get you up and running fluently with your machine IN NO TIME!!!! My page is also strictly kept to a warm and inviting place, there is NO TOLERANCE of any type of nastiness, period. So do not fear or expect that either.
